Electronics Laboratory (E-Lab)

The Electronics Laboratory (E-Lab) supports day-to-day scientific research at IMB by ensuring all technical equipment operates reliably. We also develop custom electrical devices for research. Our workshop is operated by trained personnel and also serves as a dedicated training centre for future electronics technicians.
Our Core Services & Responsibilities
- Repair, Diagnostics & Maintenance: Professional analysis and repair of all electronic and electrical equipment at IMB. We carry out routine maintenance and serve as the main contact for coordinating with external technicians.
- Development of Custom Devices: Design and construction of electrical devices tailored to specific research needs when market options are unavailable. Our manufacturing capabilities include circuit development, SMD soldering, 3D modelling, 3D printing and CNC machining.
- Electrical Safety & Compliance (E-Checks): Comprehensive routine and specific electrical safety inspections. This includes RCD testing, maintenance of house electrical systems and safety checks for all new and personal devices used at IMB.
- Inventory Management: Centralised management and registration of new devices.
- Apprenticeship Programme: We provide hands-on training for apprentices (Auszubildende), enabling them to become qualified electronics technicians specialising in devices, systems and building technology.
For repair requests, special development inquiries, or equipment inspections, please contact us or visit our workshop directly.
