ODD: Open Door Detector

The Open Door Detector (ODD) is a custom-built device developed by the E-Lab at the request of IMB’s directors. Its primary purpose is to maintain a safe and hygienic environment by preventing germs from entering areas where food and beverages are consumed.

How it works

If a designated door is left open for too long, the device emits an acoustic reminder, alerting anyone nearby to close the door.

Important Guidelines

To ensure the device operates correctly, please observe the following rules:

  • Do not block or cover the sensor: Taping or obstructing the ODD will instantly activate "Sabotage Mode," which can only be reset by the E-Lab.
  • Do not remove the device: Each ODD is tracked via a unique identification number linked to specific groups. Unauthorised removal may be considered theft.

If you experience any issues with an ODD, please reach out to us directly—no formal work order is required!
