Regulation of pro-inflammatory gene expression in autoinflammatory diseases, infections and cancer
My lab is focusing on the regulation of pro-inflammatory gene expression in autoinflammatory diseases, infections and cancer. We are trying to discover new, key molecules of inflammatory signaling pathways that become deregulated under disease conditions. The overall aim is to find small molecule inhibitors that modulate these inflammatory signaling pathways, thereby identifying new therapeutic approaches. At the moment we are focusing our research on skin and skin-related diseases, such as psoriasis, S.aureus infections and melanoma.
Our approach comprises common molecular and cell biological methods (Gene expression, RNA sequencing, lentiviral knockdown or CRISPR-Cas9 knockout), protein biochemistry (Chromatin immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting, mass spectrometry), but also the generation and analysis of various mouse models.
